You are invited to bring a 4″x6″ framed photo of your loved ones to add to the community altar. 

We are receiving photos starting on the last day of Dia de los Muertos, Nov. 2nd, from 6 to 8 p.m., then during our usual hours.

Free Concert in the Park Sunday July 28th

Our next concert will be July 28th at Lions Town and Country Park in Madera honoring Madera’s music man, Jerry Venturi,featuring accordion players from all over Central California. Thank you to our sponsors!

Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts in on the move

Fresno Regional Foundation is hosting winning images from the 2012 Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts exhibition. We will be providing more pictures soon, but in the meantime, encourage any friends, colleagues, fellow artists who were unable to see these works in Madera, to visit the Fresno Regional Foundation (office bldg north of Fig Garden Village, 5250 N. Palm ste 424) during the work week.

Pomegranate Festival

The second annual Pomegranate Festival was a huge success last Saturday. Four artists provided free art instruction to over 100 children.The children could chose between chalk art,watercolor,collage, and recycled art. We also had many parents participate in the art activities. Thank you to our artists,Adam Mena,Cecilia Halford,Elaine Blake,and Sherril Royce for donating their time and expertise.

Sierra Arts Trails

The April 15th Sierra Art Trails 2012 application deadline has been extended to May 1st. There will be no additional extension.If you have not applied, we hope the additional time will encourage you to enter. Please do your best to submit your application soon! We can promote YOU better once we know you are on board. The sooner we have your information, the sooner we will be able to publish the tour catalog, and to include you as marketing opportunities arise.

This special 10th Anniversary event, the Sierra Art Trails Yosemite Foothills Open Studio Tour, encompasses more than a dozen communities in two counties. Participating artists are featured in the tour catalog, included in a month-long Preview Exhibit, and benefit from an extensive advertising campaign promoting the event. The show attracts art buyers throughout California and beyond. NVAL Photography Show

NVAL 2012 INTERNATIONAL JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW

$1750 IN PRIZE MONEY WITH BOTH A PHYSICAL GALLERY AND ONLINE EXHIBIT.

Best of Show is $1000. The show will be exhibited May 1-June 2 at the North Valley Art League’s Carter House Gallery in Redding, California. The gallery is adjacent to the Sacramento River and major recreation areas attracting both local and tourist traffic. The show is open to all photographers and all forms of photographic expression are encouraged.

We have an outstanding juror, Jennifer L. Daly, MFA with Distinction-Photography, who has exhibited all over the country. Her juror statement reads: “Photography has always been a diverse art form with evolving and emerging technologies, ideas, and styles. As a juror, I look forward to seeing the breadth of the medium from ‘straight’ photography to photo-manipulation, digital, traditional and alternative process and everything in between in order to facilitate an exhibition of interpretation of photography today.”

Cal Arts Summer Program

CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (CSSSA)
Deadline to apply is February 28

Your talented high school age student or child can apply for this year’s California State Summer School for the Arts, a rigorous pre-professional training program. The categories available are: * Animation * Creative Writing * Dance * Film/Video * Music * Theatre * and Visual Arts.

This year summer school is held from July 14 through August 10 at the California Institute of the Arts (Cal/Arts) in Valencia, CA. Tuition is $1,550 (includes room, board and tuition) for California residents, and full or partial scholarships are available. Students must pay an additional credit registration fee if they wish to receive CSU credit.

Cal/Arts is a fully accredited degree-granting institution of higher learning for students of the visual, cinematic, and performing arts. It was established through the vision and generosity of Walt Disney in 1961.
