Chalk Art Competition

Madera High sophomores Shelby Boyd and Reha Lara won first place in this year’s annual chalk art competition held March 9th during Youth Art Month at the Circle Gallery. The theme was Superheroes and their entry showed Superman punching through a brick wall. They each received a movie gift certificate and were recognized by the California State Legislature.Congrats to Shelby and Reha!

Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts in on the move

Fresno Regional Foundation is hosting winning images from the 2012 Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts exhibition. We will be providing more pictures soon, but in the meantime, encourage any friends, colleagues, fellow artists who were unable to see these works in Madera, to visit the Fresno Regional Foundation (office bldg north of Fig Garden Village, 5250 N. Palm ste 424) during the work week.

Pathways presented by Sierra Art Trails

“Pathways” is a Sierra Art Trails special juried exhibit focused on the choices we make and the paths we take.

The exhibit will be on display November 10 to December 9, 2012 at Stellar Gallery in Oakhurst CA. Gallery Hours are 11 AM to 5 PM Wednesday through Monday.

Gala Reception – Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM Bring a pot-luck dish to share. Good people, good food, live music and Great Art!

Special Performance – Saturday December 1st, 7 to 9 PM. An evening of music, dance, and spoken word inspired by the “Pathways” theme. Directed by Joyce Wycoff. $5 admission at the door. please reserve your seats soon. Gallery seating is limited.

Pomegranate Festival

The second annual Pomegranate Festival was a huge success last Saturday. Four artists provided free art instruction to over 100 children.The children could chose between chalk art,watercolor,collage, and recycled art. We also had many parents participate in the art activities. Thank you to our artists,Adam Mena,Cecilia Halford,Elaine Blake,and Sherril Royce for donating their time and expertise.

Artist Workshop

We will be holding an a 3 day artist workshop, with instructor Mike Bailey, with the ACA (Alliance of California Artists)May 18, 19, & 20th. Please call the Circle Gallery at 661-7005 for further information.

Golden Chain theatre auditions

The Golden Chain Theatre will hold auditions for musical revue “I Can’t Believe That Didn’t Win a Tony” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 14, 21, and 28 and June 4 at the theatre in Oakhurst. The musical performance will be held Oct 6 – 21.

Director Jennifer Piccolotti is looking for performers with stage presence and vocal versatility. Auditioneers are to prepare a Broadway song and bring a performance track to their audition. A dance audition will be conducted after the singing. Performers may come to each audition to show their versatility but it is not required.
